Jumpers – The New Rock ‘n’ Roll?
As a new trend hits rock festivals – naked crowd surfing – more clued-up Brits are hitting their favourite festivals and packing their favourite jumpers!
Jumpers are hip. They have to be. In the British climate, we can’t live without our jumpers. But that doesn’t mean jumpers have to be hideously knitted affairs designed by our aunties. Designer jumpers mean you can look cool and keep warm. And there’s nowhere else where you really want to look like a rock god than at a rock festival. The news that a new trend is surfing rock music festivals however may be a little chilly for some – naked crowd surfing.
Ripped T-shirts, Jeans and Jumpers
According to a report in the Telegraph newspaper, naked crowd surfing has become a particular headache for security companies who patrol big music festivals. Crowd surfing is nothing new – it involves willing participants being passed above the heads of the crowd on a sea of arms. But reports suggest hundreds of crowd surfers have had their t-shirts, jeans and jumpers ripped from their bodies as they were carried across the crowds.
Hold on to your Jumpers!
Be warned: If you have a jumper, pair of jeans or t-shirt that you love, don’t wear your beloved clothing if you plan to do some crowd surfing. Having your favourite t-shirt or jumper ripped away is one thing, but crowd surfers are having to try hard to hold onto their underwear. Surfers have been warned by security companies to ‘keep a tight hold of their clothes lest they lose…’ their dignity! Some festival goers think it’s funny for the surfers to be stripped naked and left nude in front of some of the world’s biggest music stages – and of course, in front of the TV cameras.
If you are planning to attend a music festival and you don’t want to lose your modesty in front of potentially hundreds of thousands of people, hold tight onto your jeans, t-shirts, jumpers – and especially your underwear!
Don’t Forget Your Jumper
Many of the major music festivals involve camping outdoors in the great British summer. Any seasoned festival goer will tell you, it’s crucial you get the right clothing. Number one at the top of your list is waterproofs – coats and wellies. Packing warm jumpers is also crucial as the evenings get cold. Other essentials for all camping festival goers include a secret stash of toilet roll and a packet of wet wipes.
